Hi there, I’m Alex
Sharing music with others is my passion!

Bio
Alex Aitken is a professional drummer/percussionist and music instructor based in Monroe, New York. He performs regularly throughout the NYC and tristate area, and teaches in Orange, Rockland, and Bergen Counties. His diverse stylistic ability make him the go-to drummer for many different artists and performances, while his extensive knowledge and musicianship across multiple instruments make him a highly regarded teacher by both parents and students alike.

Alex graduated from the Jazz Conservatory at SUNY Purchase, where he studied under many legends of the field, including John Riley (Vanguard Jazz Orchestra) Kenny Washington (Tony Bennett), and Jon Faddis (Earth, Wind & Fire) among other incredible teachers. Since he graduated, he has maintained a busy performing schedule, playing everything from Jazz, to Rock, to Musical Theater, and much more. He has shared the stage with American Idol finalist Wé Ani, Youtube star Charles Cornell, and many Jazz heavyweights such as Roy Hargrove and Dwayne Eubanks.

As much as Alex loves to perform, he is equally passionate about sharing his love of music through education. Alongside drums, he has been playing guitar, bass, and piano for many years and loves to teach these instruments. He also teaches group classes and band classes. What makes Alex such a gifted instructor is not just his experience and knowledge, but his patience ability to break things down to the student's level. His teaching is driven both by fun and progress. Like any great practitioner, Alex considers himself a student first and foremost. It is with this mindset that he helps his students see the ongoing journey of music not as a daunting one, but as something exciting!
